The 72nd Annual Alexander County Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, December 1 at 3:00 p.m. in downtown Taylorsville. The event is sponsored by Alexander County Government. There are normally about 200 entries in this popular annual event.

Visitors and residents make the annual parade a huge success, so be sure to invite your friends and family to this year's event which promises to be one of the best ever, with a record number of floats and five high school marching bands!

The parade route will begin on Liledoun Road, turn right on to Main Avenue, proceed through downtown Taylorsville, turn right on to Main Avenue Drive, turn left at Adams Funeral Home, and turn right on to 1st Avenue SW.

Confirmed high school bands include: Alexander Central, Bandys, Ashe County, and Hibriten. There are currently 16 floats, which is more than last year, but some still need sponsors!

Candy may be tossed along the parade route. Candy is to be tossed very gently so as not to harm anyone. (If parade participants are caught violating this rule, you will be dismissed from the parade.) The Alexander County Christmas Parade is not liable for any injuries or violations of this rule.

Adults are asked to supervise children viewing the parade and prevent them from running into the street. All children should be kept on the sidewalk/sideline area.

All horse/rider entries will be grouped together (individuals and riding clubs) at the end of the parade and are responsible for securing and providing a clean-up crew to immediately follow them in the parade.

All motorcycle, go-carts, and horse-rider entries must have completed a waiver form and return it to the Parade Office.

Drivers of all vehicles must have appropriate licenses at time of registration.

The parade line-up will be published in The Taylorsville Times on Wednesday, November 28. Parade entries should make note of their entry number, as this will save time on parade day. All parade drivers are asked to be EXTREMELY careful and alert to children and parade viewers. On Parade Day, please be in your assigned parade line-up spot no later than 2:00 p.m. Bring your parade receipt with you on parade day as proof you have paid the parade entry fee.
