The day kicks off at 10:30 AM on June 10th by celebrating “Worldwide Knit in Public Day” on the lawn of the Hickory Museum of Art.
Kids of all ages are invited to participate in a public art project called “Yarn Bombing”, a form of street art that uses yarn or fiber rather than chalk or paint to liven up a public area.
With the help from partner, ReSource Warehouse, HMA will be decorating trees, posts, railings, columns, and even the front yard sculpture “Linkages” with yarn.
This work of community art will remain on display through Monday, June 19, 2017.
PDQ Restaurant of Hickory, located on Highway 70, will be onsite preparing fresh, made-to-order boxed lunches for $5.00 (beverage included).
